Becoming a fashion model is not something that happens overnight or after a couple of days. This job requires hard work and 100% commitment. These girls have to motivate themselves to work out, to eat carefully and take care of their face and body. There are different types of models: photo models, lingerie models, and runway models. The last ones have certainly the most strict rules and requirements. Their height and measurements are super important. Even though some of the fashion brands are already fighting against showing the undersized bodies of the models, most of them still focus on precisely choosing the highest and slimmest girls they can find. Sounds scary, but modelling is not only about the body. It is also about the unique face that will catch a customer’s attention. There are hundreds of beautiful and memorable ladies that were representing multiple fashion brand. Although we have prepared a list of ten modelling icons that, our team believes, every fashion lover should know about. Do you have a favourite model?

About: Supermodel and the fashion industry hero. She is known as a though model to work with, but which fashion designer wouldn’t like to work with her? She has also probably the best model walk ever. Her hips and shoulders sway while her back stays ramrod straight. Naomi says that she learned how to walk from her mother – Valerie Morris-Campbell, who was a dancer.

 

Heidi Klum

From: Bergisch Gladbach, Germany

About: German fashion model icon doesn’t feel like having a rest. She continues to work in the industry and does a lot more. She is a model, television personality, businesswoman, fashion designer, singer, television producer, author, and actress.

Kate Moss 

Times:1980s – Present

From: Croydon/South London, United Kingdom

About: Kate Moss rocks! She has been considered to be one of the best runway models of all times. No questions. Look at her. Isn’t she fabulous? Her fresh beauty face charmed everyone back in the nineties, but she remains beautiful forever.

Claudia Shiffer 

Times:1980s – 1990s

From: Rheinberg, Germany

About: Claudia Shiffer is also an icon of the nineties. Her outstanding modelling skills got her over 700 magazine covers. She holds the world record for the most amount of magazine covers, as listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Cindy Crawford 

Times:1980s and 1990s

From: Illinois, United States

About: Known for her beautifully developed athletic body. After long years of working hard and being a very successful supermodel, she is now giving space for her daughter in the industry. We are sure you have already heard about Kaia Gerber.

Erin O’Connor

Times:1990s – Present

From: West Midlands

About: Discovered by Paul Gaultier. She was Alexander’s McQueen favourite one. Also, Erin is one of the few living people to appear on a Royal Mail postage stamp.

Cara Delevingne

Times: 2010s – Present

From: West London, United Kingdom

About: According to Business of Fashion “Following her debut in the Autumn/Winter 2011 catwalk show for Burberry, Cara Delevingne has become one of the most in-demand models in the industry, appearing in a total of 14 Vogue covers.”

Gigi Hadid

From: Los Angeles, California, United States

About: New fashion industry face, who has already loads of fashion shows and photoshoots on her account. Gigi is currently the industry’s leading runway, bikini, and lingerie model.

Liu Wen

Times: 2000s

From: Hunan, China

About: ‘The first Chinese supermodel to…’ this is one of the most common sentences used in the articles about Liu. Let us give you an example: she was the first East-Asian model to star in Victoria’s Secret show and the first East-Asian spokesmodel for Estée Lauder etc.
