Did you know that shopping can actually make you feel happier? Of course, we are not talking about going to the closest grocery to buy potatoes and carrots. Fashion shopping is key to boost your mood. When having a bad, stressful day at work you simply need to relax and forget about the stress that you had. There are certainly, many ways to do so. Although, we all love looking at and trying on all these beautiful and trendy dresses, don’t we? And, this is what can make you feel better.
According to the latest studies of Michigan researchers, shopping makes your brain release Serotonin which is a chemical that contributes to wellbeing and happiness. Going to the shopping mall or walking down your favourite shopping high street and looking at the clothes can positively affect your mood as well. However, the researchers say that shopping therapy will be up to three times more effective if you actually buy something.
Their experiment also shows that people who were motivated by a stressful day to do their shopping were even more satisfied when they bought something than people who were doing their shopping casually. Is it the adrenaline? Is it entertainment? Or, just simply the flow of time? The researchers are still looking for the answer.
In any matter, purchasing fashion goods can be very satisfying, doesn’t matter if it is online or in the physical store. Getting something new and trendy already makes you feel more confident as you imagine yourself wearing it already, isn’t it right? So if you have some money to spend shopping will be a great idea to cheer yourself up. We have to update our outfits from time to time anyway.
Do I really need to spend a lot of money to be happier?
The answer is no. We all have hobbies and favourite things to do that make us feel better. Shopping is just one example. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, you don’t have to spend money at all. You can always call your best friend and take her out to do window-shopping. Being around someone that is close to you will definitely help to boost your mood. Looking at the clothes, talking to your bestie is a great way to forget about the tough day you just had.
