Granny panties, high waist knickers, have actually become incredibly fashionable over the past couple of years. This is not only just a simple fashion come back from the 50’s – it is a movement towards equality and women’s empowerment. The traditional sexy underwear is a little bit left aside for now. The comfort comes first, but it does not mean we will not look sexy anymore. As you probably have already noticed, social media platforms are full of beautiful pictures of girls wearing high waist knickers of all kinds. Do they look hot? They do, indeed.

Altuzzara, Louis Vuitton and Chloe featured high-waisted pants for Spring 2015. Gucci’s skirts were complemented by full-coverage underwear during the cruise 2016 fashion show as well. Since then, more and more both luxury and high street fashion brands have started to offer variable products that we call “granny panties”. The interesting fact is that in the years 2014-2015, the sales of thongs have decreased by 7%, while the sales of high-waisted full-coverage knickers increased by 17%.

We reckon that the time of thinking about our comfort has come. But then you may ask “what about the men?” We know that for many of you they are the reason you buy sexy lingerie, is that right? “To be honest, men are into girls in T-shirts and white underwear,” said Daphne Javitch, a founder of Ten Undies in the interview for the New York Times. So, if you feel like wearing comfortable high-waist panties feel free to do so. You will look hot and be stylish anyway. There are thousands of types to choose from, you won’t struggle to find perfect knickers for yourself.

Don’t go anywhere yet. We have one more thing to say. The 50’s inspired underwear do not necessarily need to fully cover everything as it used to be with our grandmothers. Today, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty, as well as Pretties, Lonely, Marieyat and Les Girls Les Boys offer us a great range of the fresh pieces with a super sexy modern touch.

So ladies, forget about thongs for now. Apparently, there is no reason to wear them anymore. Of course, we would recommend putting them on when wearing a tight dress or leggings. You don’t want your undies to show. Definitely, no, it doesn’t look good. Additionally, thongs were not even originally made for women. NYC mayor came up with an idea of creating thongs for male dancers in 1939. Thongs have a long and quite interesting history though (but we will write a separate article about it soon).

All and above, thongs are not in trend as they used to be in the year 2000. Millennials do care more about comfort but not forgetting about looking sophisticated either. Fashion designers and the mainstream brands have taken care of creating multiple beautiful pieces so here we go… Comfort in fashion?? That is what all women need!!!!
