The Glory of Cycling Shorts – What are you wearing during lockdown?
Cycling shorts are here to stay for another summer. From Alexander Wang to Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna – the catwalks where full of cycling shorts in 2019, bike or biker you may call them, shorts in different colours and patterns. The trend of tight knee-length shorts has quickly spread within celebrities, influencers as well as street fashion icons.
In an age of coronavirus where we have more time than ever to exercise, Princess Diana’s go-to choice of activewear is everywhere: cycling shorts. Besides working out, people are wearing them as a comfortable choice to work from home in, to go for walks in, and to do the food shop in and now, they’re officially the latest lockdown trend.
It was an iconic trend in the early 90s. After some years they came back to become a celebrity trend of now. Fashion experts say that Princess Diana was a pioneer of this trend. When she wore her orange tight fitter shorts paired with an oversized sweatshirt people went crazy about it. The tight, elastic shorts made her look very neat.
However, some people like to believe that their favourite influencer, Kim Kardashian West, was the first one to wear bike shorts in an elegant way. As soon as she wore her stretchy shorts with a ubiquitous strappy heel and her fans went wild. Bella Hadid, Kendal Jenner, and Emily Ratajkowsky also lost their hearts for the cycling shorts.
How will you be wearing cycling shorts this season?
1 Cycling shorts + blazer
We call it a winning set. Fitted, sporty and comfortable biker shorts paired with an oversized blazer can be worn anywhere, every day, by anyone. That is a glam-sport stunning feminine and empowering look.
2 Cycling shorts – a monochromatic look
If you prefer not to mix and match crazy patterns and colours, keep it simple and polished. Match your bike shorts with anything you like in the same colour. Create a set that will look neat and chic.
3 Cycling shorts + oversized blouse
Comfort. Is this what you like the most? The new bike shorts will look well with your oversized blouse as well. Keep it simple and don’t use too many accessories. Otherwise, you may overdo it.
4 Cycling shorts + shirt
Give your oversized shirt another life. Wrap it around with a wide waist belt, put on cycling shorts and a pair of high heels and you are ready to go.
5 Cycling shorts + tight crop top
Are you a more sporty kind of girl? Cycling shorts, as its name indicates, should ideally be worn when riding a bike (not only anymore). Because the “micro-leggins” have become a hot fashion trend, it doesn’t mean you can’t just simply wear them when doing your daily workout. Match the colours and patterns wisely and you will definitely look sexy when going for a morning jog.
If you are bored with your old Bermuda or jeans short, this is the perfect occasion to update your wardrobe and bring Princess Diana’s trend back. Doesn’t matter what fabric they are made from, but remember that they have to be tight and have the high waist – this will emphasise your beautiful, feminine figure.
